| Location: Alexander Square Building, Barberton, OH Date: October 21st, 2007 Time: 6:00 PM-9:00PM Investigators: John, Bea, Greg, Kathy, and Chris Location Description: Three-story, brick, commercial building, that is currently un-occupied. The building has no electricity and is in disarray, with various types of building material strewn about. It appears there is a newer building that was built attached to the west outside wall. This “newer” building is home to retail shops and small businesses. At the time of this report, no information could be located on the Internet or the Summit County website, reference the year it was built, the current owner, or any other historical facts. It was discovered that the Tuscarawas Ave – Alexander Square Commercial Historic District, bounded by Park Ave, Tuscarawas Ave, 4th and 5th Streets was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 17, 1990. Paranormal Activity Reported: It is alleged that the apparition of a woman wearing a long Victorian gown has been observed on the third floor. The story goes, she is looking for her husband, who was killed when he was blown off the building, sometime ago, during a severe storm. It was also related that approximately 4-5 years ago, the building was being renovated into condominiums. The work was never completed because the workers suddenly quit, leaving some of their tools behind. Work has never resumed on the building, which is in total disarray. It is unknown at this time the exact reason the workers left. Investigative Evidence: While investigating room #4 on the third floor, higher than normal EMF readings were obtained. The base readings obtained in room #4 were .1. Readings of .5-.6 were obtained toward the south end of the room. At the time of the investigation there was no electricity in this room, or throughout the building. It is unknown what caused these EMF readings. When going over evidence, investigators take all things into account, including physical evidence captured on electronic equipment and the investigators personal experiences and impressions. During this investigation there were several personal impressions, which included: 1. John picking up the name “Roy” prior to entering the building. 2. John visualizing a female wearing a ball gown in room #3. 3. John’s feeling of sadness in room #3. 4. Kathy and Greg getting strong feelings in room #4 5. Chris picking up an impression of paranormal activity in room #4. As far as physical evidence, nothing definitive was captured on any of the digital or 35mm photographs, except numerous “orbs”, which are, in the investigators opinion, dust or moisture 99% of the time. The building was very dusty and dirty. There were a couple of interesting sounds that were recorded by several audio recorders in room #4. However, it is not positive these sounds are true EVP’s (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). It is quite possible these sounds were coming from outside or another investigator, but they are worth taking note. Results of Investigation: 246 digital photographs taken. 48 35mm photographs taken. 4 hours 22 minutes of video. 5 hours 53 minutes of audio. VIDEO: Location: Room #2, third floor Time: 8:25 PM Equipment Used: Sony DCR-HC38 Digital Handycam w/Nightshot Investigators/witnesses: None Details: As far as video evidence, there was an unusual light captured in room #2 on the stationary video camera. This occurred approximately 56-57 minutes into the investigation. The light is observed in the lower left corner of one of the windows in the room. The light begins as a small flicker, disappears for a few seconds and then reappears pulsating as it grows larger. It then disappears. The whole sequence lasts approximately ten seconds. Nothing else like this was observed on the video prior or after this sequence. The light was not a flashlight, as flashlights were observed throughout the video and it was not the same. There is a possibility the light may have come from outside, possibly from a passing emergency vehicle with its overheads on, reflecting off the building across Tuscarawas Ave, but vehicle traffic was never observed shining in the windows during the video. One other item that needs to be taken into account is the camera was set up on the third floor. At this time it is unknown where this light source originated. Unexplained Light AUDIO #1: Location: Room #4, third floor Time: Unk Equipment Used: Sony TDC-D7 DAT recorder w/High End Core Sound binaural stereo microphones. Sony TDC-D8 DAT recorder w/Sound Pro SP-CMC-7 Premium Slimline Audio Technica Cardioid stereo microphones. Investigator/witnesses: Chris Details: Captured on three audio recorders and isolated during the first fifteen minutes of the investigation. Almost sounds like a woman’s voice saying, “who’s there?” The first audio is the original. The second is that of the sound isolated and enhanced. Dat 1- "Who's There?" Dat 2- "Who's There?" AUDIO #4: Location: Room #4, third floor Time: 9:00 PM Equipment Used: Sony TDC-D8 DAT recorder w/Sound Pro SP-CMC-7 Premium Slimline Audio Technica Cardioid stereo microphones. Investigator/witnesses: Chris Details: This sound was only captured on the portable DAT audio recorder at the very end of the investigation. All investigators had left the room, except Chris, who was getting ready to pack up the stationary DAT audio recorder. The sound appears to be some type of whispering embedded within the sounds of wrapping up the recorder. It sounds like the whispering is saying, “I miss the men”, or something like that. Another investigator thought it sounded like, “He’s not there”. The first audio is the original. The second is that of the sound isolated and enhanced.
